Monkey Squad One #9. Pages 13 & 14.

My favorite part of the whole conversation between Dr. Metropolis & U.N.C.L.E. Doug is when Dr. Metropolis doesn't bother to tell him that Logan is fine. U.N.C.L.E. Doug saw Logan bit in the neck by a zombie 25 minutes earlier & is all worried about him & Dr. Metropolis doesn't say a word!

I also like the aside with Cletus & Trik EZ about the good old days. They essentially put a decades worth of bad blood behind them in 3 word balloons.

I still like the "Zombies love emo" line but I bet that one will show it's age sooner than later!

Monkey Squad One #9. Pages 11 & 12.

OH YEAH!!

Muhfuckin HULK-LOGAN!!!

Oh man. This was a long time coming! Essentially the entire Zombie Apocalypse story was created just to get to this point! 

Real-Life Logan told me back in 2010 that he wanted to be like the Hulk in MS1. I loved the idea and when I thought of Logan being bit by a zombie to get there, I knew I had to do it.

I gotta tell you guys that I'm not crazy about the Hulk-tarded line anymore. It hasn't aged well with me. I went with it initially because I felt like it was something that Brendan's character would say. I now feel like that's a ridiculous rationale. It's like those mom's of super obese babies on Maury that say if their baby wants to eat, then they're gonna feed them. I always think, who let's a baby decide anything? And me letting my characters tell me what they're gonna say is just as silly of a notion. It was irresponsible & I won't let it happen again.

Just saying.

Not much to tell y'all this week...

You could see the Tumbler in Dr. Metropolis' lab way back in the story "Recruitment Drive" from the MS1 Annual #1 & here it is again.

I just finished a weekend behind a table at the Cincinnati ComiCon slanging MS1. It was a lot of fun and a fantastic learning experience. I'll talk all about it on the next episode of The Way Of The Comicbook Ronin. Here's a link.

Monkey Squad One #9. Pages 7 & 8.

Any nerd worth their weight in Funyuns knows that Dr. Abraham Erskine developed the Super-Soldier Serum that transformed scrawny Steve Rogers into the Star-Spangled strongman, Captain America.

You knew that, right?

The last time we saw the boys' Future Weapons was when Monkey Force One stopped 7 Bricks Of Fury from stealing them back in Annual #1. But this is the first time the boys have used them since issue #6!

I was really, really ready to get the boys back into their superhero gear. It'd been 3 entire issues with my main characters in street clothes & I was eager to draw some superhero action.

I should mention that my Real Life nephew Connor hated his white-ninja costume because it made him look like he was naked.
